Global Hub Foundation to Champion ESG and Global Citizenship Education
The New School of Training recently provided strategic guidance to the Global Hub Foundation, a collective of business communities in Sri Lanka's Central Province, encouraging the organization to play a leading role in promoting Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles among the business sector.
During a series of discussions focused on the Foundation's ongoing social service initiatives, the New School of Training emphasized the importance of business leaders becoming influencers and advocates for responsible and sustainable business practices. The Foundation was encouraged not only to promote ESG concepts but also to inspire business communities to practice the values and principles discussed through Global Citizenship Education (GCED).
Recognizing the significance of this direction, the Global Hub Foundation officially invited the New School of Training to conduct an awareness and induction session for its members.
The session was attended by Mr. Wasantha Tennakoon, Head of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and Global Citizenship Education (GCED), together with Mr. Mohomed Munir, Head of Finance and Communication Affairs of the New School of Training.
During the program, participants were introduced to the growing importance of ESG principles and the role that businesses can play in contributing to sustainable development, social responsibility, and ethical governance. The discussion also highlighted how GCED can help develop responsible individuals and organizations capable of creating positive social impact.
As a follow-up to this initiative, the Global Hub Foundation plans to organize a series of ESG awareness programs throughout the Central Province to educate and encourage business communities to strengthen their commitment to social responsibility and sustainable business practices.
Furthermore, the Foundation intends to promote and distribute digital copies of "Global Citizen Makes Global Entity", a booklet authored by Mr. Wasantha Tennakoon in his capacity as a UNESCO APCEIU Alumni. The publication explores the connection between global citizenship and organizational transformation and is expected to serve as a valuable resource for program participants and other interested stakeholders.
This collaboration marks an important step toward fostering responsible business leadership and strengthening the integration of ESG principles and Global Citizenship Education within Sri Lanka's business community.
